The inauguration Programme for 9th National Conference on Education for Teachers for 3 days organised by the Education Department, of Don Bosco Institute was held at 9.00 am in the Amphitheatre in Don Bosco Institute, Kharghuli, Guwahati on 16th May 2019. The program was graced by Rev. Fr. Januarius Sangma, SDB, Provincial of Guwahati province, Fr. Biju Michael, Dr. Fr. P. D. John, Mr. Anand Pillai and Sr. Magdaline Gonmei, FMA.The Conference which is scheduled till 20th was officially marked open with a host of eminent dignitaries and other eminent personalities from the field of education was attending the inaugural program.
The program began with welcoming the guest and the participants. Followed by a prayer dance. A mime was presented by DBI students on the theme of “How a Teacher works in the life of a Student”. Dr. Fr. P. D John, Executive Director welcomed and felicitated the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Januarius Sangma, Fr. Biju Michael, Mr. Anand Pillai the Resource person and Sr. Magdalene Gonmei, FMA the Conference Secretary. After which the lighting of the lamp which signifies the truth, light and justice was lit.
Fr. Biju Michael, addressed the gathering. He mentioned about the 3 Love of Teachers, the love of learning, the love for learners and the love to bring both together. He told the participants’ that you, the teachers hold the trust and dreams of millions of people. He also asked some few mind provoking questions that is, Who are you? , What do you do?, What will you teach? And Who do you teach?
Fr. Biju concluded by saying that the Teachers hold the future of individuals, families, society and the nation. Fr. Januarius Sangma lighted up the mood by started his Congratulated the participants for being a teacher. Teachers bring darkness to Light, Illiteracy to literacy, oppressed into learning to stand, Limitation to Unlimitness. Teachers have the power and privilege to build individual, family, society and Nation. He encouraged the teachers to impose Discipline on students in an appropriate way. Then, Fr. Januarius Sangma declared the conference open. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Sr. Magdalene Gonmei, FMA.
