Wild jumbo tramples 1 to death

In yet another tragic incident, a youth was trampled to death by a loner wild jumbo in Paneri Tea Estate in Udalguri at about 10 pm on Saturday evening. The deceased has been identified as Jaichan Kujur (25). Locals told that Kujur was confronted by the loner while he was on his way back home.

It is pertinent here to mention that the man-elephant conflict has taken an ugly turn along the Indo-Bhutan border villages in Udalguri district claiming as 7 human lives and 8 elephant in 2017-18.

The SSB jawans of 61 battalion nabbed six persons with 340 kg ganja (cannabis) and 251 bottles of liquor from the Arunachal- Assam border jungle area on Sunday. They have also seized a Wagon R car (AS-27, 6492) when they found the 251 bottles of liquor being taken illegally. The Udalguri district committee of All Bathou Mahasabha is going to celebrate its four-day silver jubilee programme at Sonaisri Fwthar at Harisinga in Udalguri district from February 6 with ‘reform, confirm and prosper’ as its main theme.
