Nagaon pays homage to the victims of serial blast

On Novemeber 1 a huge gathering of local people of Nagaon town paid homage to the victims of the serial blast in Assam. A condolence meeting held at Panigaon Chariali near Sankar Mission Hospital in the evening. On November 2, a silent peace rally with candles have been organised from the same place which will touch every corner of the town.

A team of police raided the Panorama market in Borbazar area of Nagaon town on December 22 and seized more than ten thousands pirated audio and video discs from various shops of the market. The district youth coordinator of Tezpur NYK Mehbub Alam Laskar who is also in the additional charge Nehru Yuva Kendra Nagaon was arrested by the police on December 21 night from the complex of Youth Hostel Nagaon. An amount of Rupees Two Lakhs was looted at Borbazar area of Nagaon town today, at around 2.10 pm. The incident happened when this amount was in a bag , carried by Surendra Nath Bora, an engineer of Rupahihat Development Block under Nagaon DRDA. Bora told the media that he put the bag on his car while receiving a call on his mobile. In that fraction of time, someone took away the bag. Bora also told that he brought that amount for the payment from the LGB Bank Borbozar branch. Award winning Assamese film 'Aideo' directed by noted film maker Arup Manna, which got many appreciations after screening at both National and International film festivals was released on Thursday at Nagaon Press Club, Nagaon. The film is now available in DVD which was released by noted actor Gyanada Bora in the presence of distinguished guests. While talking to media, Manna thanked the media for helping in publicity of the film. He also told that he felt very happy when the film was screened twice in Germany. The film has been made on the life of Aideo Handique, the first Assamese female actress.
