The sensitive border area of Sonapur is yet undevelopment. In mid-2007 the Naga intruded this area of Assam & killed several people. After that barbarous incident the Assam Govt. declared to set-up three border out posts (BOP) at Sonapur, Soraihujia & Borhula to protect the life and prosperity of the people. The BOP of Sunapur was set-up on last 20th September 2007 with 50 nos battalions, but the Govt. is not yet provide adequate facilities to this B.O.P. They are facing the problem of drinking water, electricity etc. and the number of battalions are not sufficient to protect the border. Battalions are doing their duty in the light of harikan lamps.
The Hatipoti Bridge of Nazira Galekey road was cracked down last month creating a lot of problems to the commuters. Local people have been demanding for construction of the bridge by the ONGCL for a long time. In a tri-party meeting of the ONGCL, S.D.O. (Civil) Nazira & representative of different organizations, the ONGCL declared to provide 12 lakh 27 thousand rupees for re-construction of the bridge. The ONGCL are also agreed to construct a sub way near the said bridge.
Golden Jubilee of the Chakimukh Higher Secondary School will be celebrated on 8th and 9th February 2008. It is declared as a model H.S. School of Nazira sub-division and the Assam Govt. already granted 10 lakh Rupees to this school under Buniad Scheme.

Arsenic which is formed in heavy quality in the ground level water of Sivasagar and Nazira makes the people worry. Now the Govt. is trying to create awareness among the people and take some preventive measures.Under the guidelines of ‘National Rural Drinking water quality monitoring and survillance programme the Public Health and Enginerring Department of Sivasagar and Nazira is conducting a few awareness camps in different places.At Santak and Bihubor where two water project were sealed by the PHED Nazira for presence of heavy quantity of arsenic. Govt. is now planning to setup a arsenic -tretment plant there.
