Adivashi Sengal Abhijan and Jharkhand Desam Party, Assam state committee carried out a rally and staged protest dharna in Kokrajhar on Monday, demanding ST status to the Adivashi community and start of Ol-Chiki script in Santhali medium school in the state. The protest was held in front of the DC office, Kokrajhar.
Hundreds of activists and members from Sengal Abhijan with banner, placards participated the protest dharna that saw slogan shouting seeking ST status and use of Ol-Chiki script in Santhali medium school.
Meanwhile,the 12 hour Assam bandh called by AASAA-Pradip Nag faction, on demand of ST status to the Adivashis has evoke partial response in Kokrajhar district and its adjoining areas.
The bandh was concluded by 5 pm which was started from 5am.
The bandh affected 31 national highway,most of the bazaar, markets are seeing open. Private vehicles are running as usual on the day. The bandh partially impact in the area.
Citizens and parents in the area have expressed resented over bandh cultures which are called by different organisation and parties to show their protest and agitation.
Bandhs have been creating problems and hardships in the area as bandh culture is seeing gaining up.
Parents and citizens have appealed to all organisation and parties not to call bandhs during the examination days as HS final examination is beginning from Tuesday.
