The Inter IIT sports meet is organized each year to encourage sportsmanship, to promote and create a better harmony, understanding and friendly interaction among the students of the IITs, as well as to foster a close association among them. The meet is organized in three legs, the Aquatic Meet, the Main Meet and the Staff Meet. We are glad to inform you that the 53rd edition of the Inter IIT Sports Meet is being organized by IIT Guwahati.

The event will be inaugurated by Shiny Wilson, an Arjuna award winner who has been a National Champion in 800 meters for 14 years and represented India in Asian Games and Olympics. In the opening ceremony, she will be joined by Mariyappan Thangavelu, who won a Gold Medal in 2016 Rio Paralympic Games and is a Padma Shri and Arjuna Award winner.
With over 3500 participants, more than 50 events and 500+ matches, this edition is going to be one of the biggest throughout the history of the Inter IIT Sports Meet. This will also be the first time when the talent of the differently abled individuals will be acknowledged with the inclusion of para-powerlifting among other competitive sports.

A car and two trucks were damaged during the BTAD bandh that paralyzes Bagsa district on Thursday.The bandh enforcers stopped movement of all vehicles in the area, threatening to destroy them.The bandh, supported by the Rabha Hasong Students Union, was called to protest against the alleged killing of people of the Rabha Hasong ethnic community in police firing and clashes in Goalpara district during the panchayat elections on February 12.Markets, shops, offices, banks, educational institutions remained closed and vehicles kept off the roads in the Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts comprising Kokrajhar, Udalguri, Baksa and Chirang districts.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday ordered a thorough judicial probe into the poll related incidents in Goalpara. The judicial panel will find out if the protests against the elections were instigated. Talking to reporters in Guwahati on Wednesday, he said that violence took place in 22 places.
