Inter IIT sports meet from Dec 13

The Inter IIT sports meet is organized each year to encourage sportsmanship, to promote and create a better harmony, understanding and friendly interaction among the students of the IITs, as well as to foster a close association among them. The meet is organized in three legs, the Aquatic Meet, the Main Meet and the Staff Meet. We are glad to inform you that the 53rd edition of the Inter IIT Sports Meet is being organized by IIT Guwahati.

Inauguration Ceremony – 2:30 PM 13th December 2018 at IIT Guwahati

Main Meet- 13th December 2018 to 21st December 2018

Staff Meet- 24th December 2018 to 28th December 2018

The event will be inaugurated by Shiny Wilson, an Arjuna award winner who has been a National Champion in 800 meters for 14 years and represented India in Asian Games and Olympics. In the opening ceremony, she will be joined by Mariyappan Thangavelu, who won a Gold Medal in 2016 Rio Paralympic Games and is a Padma Shri and Arjuna Award winner.

With over 3500 participants, more than 50 events and 500+ matches, this edition is going to be one of the biggest throughout the history of the Inter IIT Sports Meet. This will also be the first time when the talent of the differently abled individuals will be acknowledged with the inclusion of para-powerlifting among other competitive sports

Guwahati: The Assam government is building contact with the ministry of external affairs to evacuate as many as 100 people who are trapped in the Ukraine warzone. The Climate Group, collaborating with the Swaniti Initiative, plans to train a cohort of climate fellows in selected Indian states as part of the “State Climate Fellows” initiative.  Fellows will champion climate strategies in their respective states and push the levers necessary to align state climate goals with those of the national government.
