1 NDFB(S) cadre, 2 suspected linkman apprehended in Udalguri

UDALGURI: Based on specific input the security forces in a joint operation apprehended a NDFB (S) cadre from No. 2 Merabil area under Mazbat PS in Udalguri on Monday evening. The person has been identified as Geremsa Basumatary. The security forces also recovered one Indian grenade and one Chinese grenade from the farm land behind his house campus. Based on his confesions the security forces also apprehended  two of his accomplices from Mazbat railway station. They are suspected to be linkman and have been identified as Boronda Narzary and Geolang Basumatary. An cash amount of Rs.59,775 was also recovered from the posession of the latter.Meanwhile a case has been registered against the trio at Mazbat PS and the case is being investigated and they are being interrogated.

UDALGURI: The Indo-Bhutan border villages in Udalguri district-region fraught with human-animal conflict and bloodshed and continue to witness brutality of wild jumbos.  In yet another incident, one Mardia Munda (25), a tea garden labour , was trampled to death by wild jumbos at Nalanadi under Dimakuchi PS in Udalguri district on Wednesday.Reportedly, the labour was on his way back home after plucking green leaves when he was confronted by wild jumbo trampling him to death. The local villagers witnessed his soul-less body at about 3 pm when the police and forest officials reached the spot. His body has been retrieved and sent for post-mortem.
