athletics the 1st Inter-
Udalguri District School Atheletics Meet-2018 was organized here at
Tangla Stadium ground in
Udalguri district on Saturday. The event organized by
Tangla Sports Association was witnessed widespread participation of nearly 300 athletes from 25 different schools of
Udalguri district. The
sports competitions included Running Race,Long Jump,High Jump,Javelin,Discuss,Shotput Throw,
Rally among others were held for both Boys and Girls categories. The opening ceremony was attended by former Panery MLA,Kumud

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated with pomp and gaiety in Tangla and its sub-urbs as men and children dressed in their ethnic best thronged Eidgahs for special prayers to mark culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan on Thursday. A considerable congregation of Muslims participated in the special prayers held in the Bara Masjid Idgah Maidan in Tangla which was led by Maulana Mohammed Samaun Ahmed Noori. The Muslim brethren are preparing for culmination of the month-long Ramzan festivities tomorrow . The new moon is expected to be sighted on the evening of July 6 and the devout will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on July 7. Arrangements are being made for delivering sermons on the occasion and various service activities. Special prayers are scheduled to be held at 8 in the morning of July 7 at Bara Masjid Eidgah maidan and Banseria Masjid Eidgah Maidan. Meanwhile security setup has been beefed as to thwart any untoward incident,police and paramilitary troops will be guarding the maidans till the prayers concludes.

Sensation has been prevailing in the area following failed attempt of theft in State Bank of India Bhergaon branch under Tangla PS of Bhergaon subdivision. Reportedly on Thursday night theives entered the bank premises by breaking window panes. A wild jumbo of around 15 years old embraced death at Kala river of No. 3 Bholatar under Nonai Reserve Forest near Bamunjali TE on Wednesday night. Udalguri district the District Child Protection Unit in collaboration of Pherengadao, a local NGO, has organised an awareness programme on human trafficking at Bordoloi Bhawan, Tangla on Wednesday. The programme was chaired by Tangla College professor Ghateswar Baruah. Speaking on the occasion, State Child Protection Society Programme Manager Savio Laura said "We have to join hands together to curb the menace of human trafficking. By propagating false promises children's are lured to urban areas and racketed through traffickers."
