Women imparted training

TANGLA: The Public Health Department of Udalguri has taken up a unique initiative to empower the women of the region by conducting a training programme on Women Mason under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) . The programme was initiated with the help of two Self Help Groups viz. Jeuti SHG and Rupali SHG whose group heads had undergone the training on Women Mason at Barpeta District in the month of May last. After discussing the matter with the women of Santipur VCDC in Udalguri District, a group of 10 women came forward to undergo the training programme on the programme. The Public Health Engineering Department conducted a two-day long training programme at PHC sub-centre in Santipur Village nearby Indo-Bhutan area of Udalguri district on June 20 and 21 last. The  programme was chaired by Executive Engineer(PHE), Bhupen Saikia; District Nodal Officer(SBM-G), Nameshwar Tayung;  Technical Officers, Ramiz Raja Choudhury and Injamamul Islam. It is pertinent here to mention that Udalguri  is the second District to impart Women Mason training in Assam after Barpeta. The programme consisted of detailed theoretical information about the twin pit toilet. After the completion of the training the women would also receive a certificate of participation in the programme. Though the official training is of two days but unofficially it will continue till the women have adequate knowledge of construction. This programme initiated by the PHE of Udalguri District will empower the women and help them being self-reliant in the the society.

Bathou Mahasabha from Feb 6

The silver jubilee session of Udalguri district ‘Bathou Mahasabha’ is going to be held at Harisinga from February 6 to 9, 2016. Bandh hits life at Tangla

The 12 hour Assam bandh called by Hiteswar Barman led AKRSU in demand of ST status to six communities of state namely the Koch Rajbongsi, Adivasi, Motok, Moran, Chutia and Tai Ahoms had paralysed life in the buisiness and educational town of Udalguri district Tangla. All shops and business establishments, educational and financial institutes remained closed during the bandh period. However few schools and Junior colleges with low attendence of students functioned till 12.Except some private vehicles no other vehicles were seen plying on the roads in the town. No untoward incident occurred in the town during the bandh period.

Hindi speakers committee at Tangla

Akhil Hindi Bhasi Vikash Parishad, that works towards the interest of the Hindi speaking communities of four districts of BTC, had its general meeting on November 15 at Tangla where it had formed its regional committee. The meeting was presided over by Central General Secretary Santosh Shah. Chaath Puja at Tangla

Chhath puja would be observed on riverbanks and near other water bodies on November 17 and 18 at Tangla. The festival include rigorous fast and rituals spanning four days, holy bathing, abstaining from drinking water, presenting offerings(argh) to the Sun God, standing in water and offering prasad In Tangla devotees would offer their prayers on the bank of two rivers Nonai and Naika. Children's day in Tangla

Students of Arunodoi Academy Tangla celebrated Children's day in a special way. The students under the guidance of Principal of the academy Napolean Daimari distributed food packets among the patients of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Hospital, Tangla. Hospital authorities thanked the initiative of the students. Arunodoi Academy has been taking charitable works in the area for the last several years in the interest of society. Tangla Bengali students unit celebrates

The 15th foundation day celebration of Tangla college unit body of All BTC Bengali Youth Student's Federation was held on Friday at Bordoloi Bhawan, Tangla.
