Say No to sexual violence against women

NEW DELHI: Sexual violence against women poses no less threat to the Indian culture and civilization these days. A steep rise in these cases has made the capital city of Delhi a darkening den of rapists which requires mass awareness to firmly deal with the menace. This was more or less of what a short film features drawing huge applause among the Delhities who have come to catch a glimpse of it.

The story centering around a case of sexual violence where a youth raped a woman inside her residence. But a prompt initiative by the victim and her daughter forced the police to act quickly which was why, the culprit was caught.

Tilu Das, an undergraduate student in the north eastern city of Guwahati said,  “Really relevant. This is, simply a huge message to the people not only living in Delhi but the entire nation should listen it. Only because of prompt initiative by Pragya, who happens to the victim’s daughter, Vijay, the culprit was captured by police,” said Sanjay Kakoti, student leader based in the capital.

“Need of the hour is mass alertness to firmly deal with these cases. Alertness helps the police to track the criminals since they have a set of technology for it. Without peoples’ cooperation police alone can’t achieve thing,” said .

Ajmir Singh, a social activist said,”the film, beyond doubt, has a noble intention. But it is silent on how to help the capital get rid of these incident: mass awareness is not the sole factor. Need of the hour is a slew of long term measure to change the mindset of a section of the people where consumerism reigns. Anyhow, the venture, in fact, is noble with sharp concept and crisp scripting.”

Satya Prasad Sabherwal, who owns the TVNF(Television News and Features) said,”I and TVNF started producing short films on various social issues which have been corroding the foundations of Indian society for a very very long time. I was keen to make a film on the issue of rape for a long time and had decided its title and script some two years back. But got the guts and time now. I would request all to watch Sanak and many other short films on TVNF channel on youtube.”

The roads are bumpy, dusty and what not. Normal journey with this background would have been a cumbersome exercise indeed. But a golden January sunshine made us forget these at least for two hours on the way to Pobitora Sanctuary on Wednesday.  The weather was fine. But the timing was wrong. The season was fine. But the day falls on the eve of the Magh Bihu. That’s why, the abode of one horn rhino, wild bores and buffalos along with lots of migratory birds was not throbbing with tourists footfalls. Accompanied by a forest guard our seven seater jeep gradually moved inside the sanctuary. Much to our excitement, we came to spot four rhinos grazing beside a hard of wild buffalos in the...
