GUWAHATI: Hundreds of people joined a CPI sponsored procession in Guwahati streets on Wednesday in protest against the demolition of two Lenin statues in Tripura after BJP-IPFT alliance decimated the Left Front in the recent polls.

With banners, play cards, the protesters shouted slogans against the BJP leadership for failing to rein in the party goons who pulled down two statues in Tripura during the last two days.

“We demand strict action against the mob who did it Belonia and Sabroom. But why the police have yet to attest even a single miscreant?,” said Deepika Gogoi who joined the procession.

Durgeswar Nath, a Left worker said,” before taking action against the workers why Ram Madhab be questioned gir his statement which incited the goons to act.”
