Kokrajhar: Amid an escalating controversies over the land rights of both tribal and non-tribal in BTAD areas, the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) appealed to all sections of people to have confidence in the strength of the constitution and law of the land.
Speaking the reporters at a Press Conference held at Kokrajhar Press Clu, president of the UPPL party UG Brahma said the party appeal BJP-BPF allies Government to uphold the constitutional law of the 6th Schedule area as enshrined in the constitution.
The BTC Act under the 6th Schedule of the constitution of India doesn’t curtail rights and its related laws of, both non-tribal and tribal under any circumstances and their respective rights should be ensured according to the law.
At the same time the Act also, on the basis of general principle of 6th Schedule area administration, provides power to safeguard the lands own by the tribal people from any kind of alienation and transfer to non-tribal but without affecting the rights and privileges enjoyed by the non-tribal people.
The UPPL has observed that various divisive forces are active to create communal tension for their narrow political interest and the present Assam Government as well as the BTC authority, both failing to defuse the tension. The party also has observed that various forces are trying to widen the gap more and more in between tribal and non-tribal people with ulterior motive of keeping alive the communal divide.
