GUWAHATI: Top industrialists and policy makers from the south east Asian nations will rub shoulders in Guwahati on Saturday as the north eastern state is gearing up to hold the global investors summit in the premier city
Talking to www.assamtimes.org, the Assam Government officials say Prime Minister Narendra Modi is opening the two days event in the presence of 2500 industry leaders and representatives from the country and abroad.
Ratan Tata, Mukesh Ambani, Dilip Shanghvi, Anand Burman, Dr. Subhash Chandra, Amar Abrol, Rashesh Shah, Sushil Goenka, Sanjiv Puri, Harshavardhan Neotia, Dr. Naresh Trehan, Subhash Ghai, Balakrishan Goenka, have confirmed participation in the event which is ending on Sunday.
“The Summit will showcase the opportunities offered by the state in terms of export-oriented manufacturing and services to ASEAN and BBN countries. Our objective will be to position Assam as India’s Expressway to ASEAN,” said a government officer.
Foreign delegates include Bhutan Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Bangladesh industry minister Amir Hossain Amu, Cambodia tourism minister Dr. Thong Khon, Laos minister Ounethoang Khaophanh.
These are apart from the ambassadors and high commissioners from 12 other countries like USA, Vietnam, UAE, Netherland, Nepal, Korea, Japan, Israel, Indonesia, Germany, Czech Republic and Canada.
