GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbanabda Sonowal on Monday assured the agitating Dimasa leaders that his government wont allow the hills district to be annexed into the proposed greater Nagalim forcing them to call off the the agitation from Tuesday.
The development came up when Sonowal held a crucial meeting with the Dimasa delegation in Dispur in the evening.
Sonowal paid them a written assurance rejecting the possibility of any move to leave Dima Hasao to the proposed greater Nagalim.
Sonowal further agreed to institute an enquiry into the role of DC and SP in the police firing incident in Maibong apart from action against RSS activist Jagadomba Mall.
Then the delegation announced withdrawal of the paralyzing agitation from Tuesday. But they threatened to resume it if the government fails to keep the promises.
