Two more persons were killed at Dalgaon in Darrang district in police firing for dispersing an some miscreants on Tuesday midnight.

According to information, the incident took place at Chahgaon around 11 midnight when police tried to disperse some miscreants with firing when they were trying to torch a village. Two persons died on the spot. On the others hand, following this the panic-stricken local people have left the 3rd APTF camp at Sajuabeel.
There are reports of some more house being set ablaze at Nahoroni village under Majbat police station on Tuesday.

A group clash also took place at Khandikar village in Goreswar. 3 persons were injured in the clash. However security forces managed to drive both groups apart. In Tangla area police recovered 2 dead bodies from a paddy field.

Another body was recovered in Rongagarh, of Udalguri. In Tangla and Koilagaon the army conducted flag march.

Meanwhile, the Centre has rushed more security forces to quell the situation. Ten additional BSF companies will be pumped in to the lower Assam districts.
Of these 3 companies will be deployed in Udalguri, 2 in Darrang, 2 in Sonitpur, 2 in Kokrajhar and 1 company in Chirang district. Even as the death toll has touched 60, the number of displaced has crossed 85 thousand.

In its desperate attempt to save the face, the Assam Congress said violence was increasing by day. Reacting to the allegations APCC President and Rajya Sabha member Bhubaneswar Kalita claimed the Congress government has always worked for bringing peace.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has asked the army and para-military to maintain strict vigil in the violence-hit areas.

Strong measures have also been suggested against those spreading rumours and dealing firmly with miscreants.

Gogoi said the Assembly speaker has been asked to lead an all-party team to the affected districts to restore peace.

The chief minister appealed to all sections of people to maintain peace and not to be provoked by propaganda.

Seeing the situation in Assam I am reminded of a poem "O Captain! My Captain" written by Walt Whitman,where the poet brings out the saddest moment which the countrymen faced after being betrayed by their own master whom they once considered him as the saviour. The poem is applicable to the BTAD authority due to the developments taking place at present.In search of leader who can understand their cry the following verse is fitting especially for Mr. Mohilary who claims himself as the 'Saviour of Boros'. The cry of Boros says; "O Captain! Our Captain! Rise up and hear the cry of people who stands in need of your help; Rise up—for your people who have lost their own land. For you we call, eagerly faces turning to you. Here Captain! We say dear father! We’ve fallen victims of migrant Bangladeshis. But our captain does not answer, his lips still, ears deaf. Our father does not feel the need to help the needy; he has neither pulse nor will;

Deploying army and para-military forces is not going to heal the wounds of those affected in the recent clash. It will only lead to further escalation of violence in the area. It is high time for the Assam Government to take strong action against the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.The Chief Minister should not shirk his responsibility by blaming other parties, instead he should take necessary action before Assam becomes another Bangladesh.

Assam need a chief minister like Narendra Modi to prevent Assam become part of greater Bangladesh planned by this jehadis. Rest of country is progressing in economic front, industrialization but Assam is still in the stone age.

Assam CM discharged from Max hospital

The Asian Heart Institute has discharged Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi nearly a month after two critical open heart surgeries.Doctors at this Mumbai based hospital called his health fit and fine after a special chech up. According to sources, the chief minister was discharged at 7 in the evening on Friday. Immediately after it, he shifted to Hotel Trident where he would spend 2 days before leaving for Delhi.Gogoi is scheduled to arrive in Guwahati on Wednesday.

Assam CM to be discharged today

Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi is all set to be discharged from Asian Heart Institute on Friday where he has undergone two critical heart surgeries a couple of weeks back. Doctors at the Asian Heart Institute find his condition fit and fine. According to family sources, the chief minister is scheduled to leave for Delhi immediately after his discharge.On September 8, Gogoi will be arriving in Guwahati.

Gogoi well, to be released soon

Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi is recovering rapidly. Doctors attending on him at the Asian Heart Institute are quite satisfied with the progress and he would be released from the hospital in a day or two.But according to family sources, Gogoi who has undergone two complicated open heart surgeries would be shifted to the Hotel Trident for more bed rest.The chief minister is monitoring the day to day affairs of the state by talking to acting chief minister Dr Bhumidhar Barman and other minister over telephone.

Narrow escape for 150 passengers on river

At least 150 passengers were rescued after the ferry carrying them developed a technical snag in the strong current in Lakhimpur district on Monday. According to report, as the Inland Water Transport department-owned S V Bebejia, carrying more than 150 passengers, developed a technical snag about 32 kms from Lakhimpur its engine stopped functioning in the river Subansiri. Another ferry was pressed into service and the passengers were rescued.

NDFB claims Balipara responsibility

The National Democratic Front of Bodoland has owned up the responsibility of the Sunday’s incident at Balipara in Tezpur a day after they kidnapped two good train drivers at gunpoint. Talking to Northeast Frontier Railway officials over telephone on Monday, the Bodo outfit said they would release the drivers only if the operation in forest areas of the district is stopped. Flood poses threat to Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary

The flood fury in Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary remains critical with almost 95 per cent of the sanctuary under flood waters. The water of the Brahmaputra, Kopili and Kolong had inundated vast tracts of the sanctuary leaving the animals in peril. The overall situation in Pobitora turned grim with more than ten thousand people affected in 45 villages. The main PWD road connecting Pobitora with NH 37 was submerged at Kamarpur and a section of the road had been washed away disrupting road communication.

DU campus crisis continues

The impasse inside the Dibrugarh University remains even after the authorities agreed to roll back the recent feehike.Talking to Assamtimes,the leaders of the varsity's post graduate students union said they are not ready to lift the agitation untill and unless the vice chancellor resigns, ban on DUPGSU is lifted and the cases against DUPGSU leaders are withdrawn.The students have boycotted their classes, hoisted black flags inside the varsity campus and are on hunger strike. The decision to scale down fee was taken on Saturday.
