Bodo Sahitya Sabha raps govt apathy

Kokrajhar,Dec 30: The Bodo Sahitya Sabha(BSS) alleged government interest to address the concern of the people.

The apex literary organization said it on Saturday when it's 43rd annual convention ended inSalakati on Saturday. 

Prasanto Boro,general secretary of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha while talking to Assam Times, the leaders has demand steps  for early creation of separate directorate for Bodo and other reibal communities in the state.

 The sabha convention discussed on the issues and development of the Bodo language, education and literary works to make Bodos healthy uplift in the state.

An open meeting was organised with Baneswar Basumatary, president of the district unit of sabha in the chair.

BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary graced as guest on the convention of the Bodo sahitya sabha said the Bodo sahitya sabha is the premier organisation of the Bodo community.The Bodo sahitya sabha was working for the uplift of Bodo medium,language and literary since its inception, he said.

He said that Bodos are aboriginal community in the state with its own language and culture and making a integrated community. He has urged coming up generation to study over community’s historical background to make healthy integration with unity environment in coming days.

‘We must preserve our heritage and culture as well language in the world to gain community development. We must come forward while making uplift and development of the Bodo language and literary to make healthy community’, Borgoyary said.

Earlier in the morning, Baneswar Basumatary, president of the district unit of sabha hoisted sabha flag followed floral tribute to the martyrs tomb by Bhumilal Narzary.

Among others,noted writer Lakshmi Nath Brahma,Binay Kumar Brahma were prominent attendees on the occasion.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. A five-day mountaineering training program, organized by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Welfare department of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government, begins on Thursday at the Dangdupur Hills Site in Kokrajhar. Three individuals, including former MLA and senior BPF (Bodoland People's Front) leader Hitesh Basumatary, were arrested by police in Baksa district after a search operation at Basumatary's residential complex resulted in the recovery of a large cache of illegal arms and ammunition. Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district.
