Chief of Army Staff visits Manipur
Imphal, Dec 29 (NENA): General Bipin Rawat, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, ADC, Chief of the Army Staff arrived in the state on a two-day visit to IGAR (South) from December 28-29.
The COAS was accompanied by Lieutenant General Abhay Krishna, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Army Command and Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan, AVSM, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding Spears Corps, informed PRO of IGAR (S) in a release on Friday.
The COAS was briefed on the prevailing security situation in the state by Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) and General Officer Commanding 57 Mountain Division.
General Bipin Rawat reviewed the operational preparedness of the formations and appreciated the endeavours of security forces. He lauded the efforts of the soldiers for ensuring peace and tranquility in the state and also asked them to continue the good work in a professional manner and in the true spirit of the Indian Army.

An alleged infiltration of militants from Myanmar has forced the Chandel and Ukhrul district administrations in Manipur to imposed 144 CrPC within three km belt along the Indo-Myanmar border.The round-the-clock vigilance is in place after the authorities got the inputs of the infiltration of disturbing elements from across the international border.
