Quest of global peace in Christmas prayers

GUWAHATI: Christmas fever gathers momentum in Assam as the north eastern state soaks in the joy of the annual Christian festival with all traditional zeal and fervour on Monday. After the mid night carols, the well decorated churches across the state are teeming with visitors to participate in the special prayers.

Christian people of all walks of life visited the churches in quest of divine help to restore global peace. Dressed in colourful woolen clothes, the children are finding it a joyous moment to be at the church premise on the Christmas day. Tiny tots in many Christian dominated areas are seen distributing sweets and greeting cards to the elders to observe the occasion.

Without His intervention that is not possible," said Beena Thousan, a college girl in Haflong who participated the special prayer after the mid night carol.

George Timung, a local trader in Diphu said,"I want to spread His message of love and kindheartedness among the people to keep this planet cool. That power I am asking from the Jesus."In Guwahati, dressed in new attire people are visiting the churches at Christian Bast, Panbazar and Don Bosco to catch a glimpse of the celebration.
