DUDHNOI: A local court in Dudhnoi sent Akhil Gogoi to fourteen days judicial custody after the police produced the KMSS leader before it on Sunday. The court, however, is hearing his bail petition on Tuesday. Amid tight security police as taken to the CJM court in the morning aday after he was arrested in Dibrugarh before shifting him from Dibrugarh.
KMSS leaders and workers in large number thronged the court premises and shouted slogans against the arrest and judicial remand of their remand. They further demanded immediate release of Akhil Gogoi whom they say, the government is scared of. Gogoi on Friday procured bail and the Gauhati High Court set aside his arrest under NSA. But Dudhnoi police got him in their remand in connection with a case pending against him.
Defying an escalating protest by KMSS in rank and file, he was brought to Dudhnoi on Saturday.
