Say no injustice to disabled lots

Kokrajhar,Dec 3: Along with other parts of the globe, Kokrajhar observed the disabled day focussing that the disabled lots have been deprived of rights that made reservations in the government departments in the state due to non implementation of the mentioned facility and rights.

The occasion was observed at Choto Molandubi with daylong programme scheduled in Kokrajhar district on Sunday.
The day was organised by BTAD Disabled Welfrae Development NGO at Choto Molandubi in Kokrajhar to mark the celebration of wirld disability persons along with rest of the state. As part of the programme, Agwma Basumatary,president of the development NGO hoisted flag while Nandalal Choudhury,director of the NGO paid floral tribute to martyrs on the day.

Nandalal Choudhury,Director of BTAD Disabled Welfare Development NGO alleged that state government and concern departments have been tactically made subside of facility and rights of the disability peoples. He said the disabled persons are deprived from their various facilities and rights. He said the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995 were not fully implemented depriving thousands of disabled people, he said.

 The leader demanded fully implementation of Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995, equal opportunity to the disabled persons, protection of rights and full participation in all departments as per the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995. He also demanded filling up of backlogs for the disabled in various departments within the BTAD. He said that disabled persons should get 3 percent reservation all government departments in the state,but till today they are yet to get single percent facility of which all are going opposite in its actuall stability,he said.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district.
