Community marriage passed off peacefully

Nearly 250 couples have been tie-knot at a mass marriage ceremony at Kachugaon Public High School ground in Kokrajhar district on Thursday.

Community marriage ceremony brings happy married life among Saotali community, which witnesses of irrespective of communities at Kachugaon in Kokrajhar district on Thursday,which was organised jointly by Hindu Saotali Lek Ashar Rukhia Baishi(Hindu Saotali Sangskriti Suraksha Society) and Seva Bharati Purbanchal, Guwahati.

  Huge couples,who are coming from economically backward from remote villages of Kokrajhar and Dhubri districts were tie-knot on the day with creating festivity like environment in the area. The ground saw huge spectators to witness the mass wedding function in the region.

 The mass marriage has been witnessing huge gathering of citizens through Saotali rituals. The priests performed the wedding ceremony as groom and bridegrooms were dressed new clothes to get married on their life.

Peoples from all sections of communities extended their best wishes to the newly married couples that were tie knot in a public.

Assam minister Naba Kumar Doley and Brindaban Maharaj Amritananda atteneded the function and blessed all newly wedded couples.

Newly wedded couples expressed thor gratitude as they got opportunity to be part of the mass marriage by social organisations.

'I am very much lucky one to be tie knot today publicly in my life', said Himadri Hasda, a newly married person from Srirampur.

'Today I got my life partner through the mass wedding. I am feeling happy because my new life has been started from today ", said Snehi Murmu,a newly married woman from Kachugaon village.

 Doley while extending his best wishes to all newly married couples said that peoples of this area are getting a healthy environment as social organisations have been arranged a mass marriage function to pave way new life among common citizens.

' It was an initiative for bringing social integration among grassroot citizens who are living hand to mouth. The mass marriage function has been giving a ray of new life in their family leading ', he said.

Another NBCC officer in CBI net

Yet another NBCC top ranked officer in CBI dragnet. The country's premier investigating agency has arrested NBCC assistant general manager P K Mittal from Shillong in connection to the scam in the construction of Assam's road and bridges. The vital lead was received from the confessional statement of B C Dhiman, who was caught red handed by CBI recently while he was allegedly trying to bribe one of its officials in Guwahati.

According to information, four more officers of the Central government undertaking would be arrested in this connection. Notably, CBI has been probing onto the allegations of a scam in the construction of road and bridges by the National Building Construction Corporation.

Police interrogating Soobodh

The Dhemaji police team set up to probe the Silapothar arson early this month has been interrogating Soobodh Biswas a day after the main accused was caught in West Bengal on Wednesday.

Police officials are tightlipped on the revelations but the physician turn social activists for the Hindu Bangla-speaking people is believed to have invited the clash where a section of the protestors ransacked a local AASU office triggering statewide protest.

But the investigators would ascertain the charges against him after corroborating with the statements of 45 other people now under police custody.

Biswas, whom, police kept at a police guest house after tbd arrival on Wednesday would be flown to Dhemaji to be produced before a local court in a day or two.

On the other hand, AASU along with many other organizations have been staying demonstrations demanding examplary punishment of Biswas and his associates.

Money on fishnet in Guwahati water body

Believe it or not. Fishermen at a water body in Guwahati catched lakhs of rupees on Monday. The strange incident took place at Chasal in the afternoon when a fisherman came to see a bundle of notes of Rs 1000 demonition on his net. Others also started looking for money under the water and accordingly got hundreds of rupees. As the news spread like wildfire the local residents in large number were landing in the water body and most of them found out money.
