Face lift for war cemetery

Dibrugarh MP Rameswar Teli on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the renovation and restoration of World War 2 Cemetery situated at Longtong Udaipur 25 kilometers away from Margherita town. Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sarma was also present in the brief function.

The Margherita unit of BJP has suspended its president Bhim Karmakar for 5 days in connection with the recent acrimonious situation at a party function in Tinsukia.Party insiders told Assam Times that Karmakar was allegedly involved in the scuffle that took place at the function attended by Siddhartha Bhattacharya where the party workers tried to be flanked by the State president on November 16.
Normal life remains paralyzed on Friday in Tinsukia district following a 24 hour bandh called by the Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad in protest against the assault on one of their leader.Roads in most parts of the district remained completely deserted as vehicles refused to ply during this period.
