GUWAHATI: Former chief minister Tarun Gogoi strongly criticised the government for the move to delay in the publication of the NRC since the government does not want it.
Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Friday, Gogoi said the Centre's affidavit before the Supreme Court, beyond doubt, has once again proved thr government's utter reluctance.
"NRC will mark an to BJP's politics on religion. This is simply the reason why NRC is delayed," said Gogoi adding that he was emotionally attached to NRC.
He said,'I brought up ig as I was the chief minister. It gradually grew up. But Sarbanabda Sonowal has not been properly taking care of it."
On the question of the controversy surrounding Ashad Madani, the former chief minister said he would not endorse any communal statement. " Not only Madani. Be it Prabin Bhai Togaria, Shiladitya. I am dead opposed to it."
