GUWAHATI: Amid the crucial probe into the APSC scam, the Gauhati High Court on Tuesday rejected the bail petition moved by chairman Rakesh Paul who has been languishing in jail for the last several months.
A disappointed Paul and his legal team now has no option to pin hopes on the Supreme Court for respite. His lawyers, sources, say are moving the apex court challenging the ruling on Tuesday.
A division bench of the court ruled that since the probe into the nefarious cash for job scam has reached a crucial stage, the bail is not advisable for the chairman.
Paul who two months back procured bail from the Supreme Court was rearrested acting on a fresh bribery case registered against him in Bhangagarh police outpost.
Sources told Assam Times that Paul is moving the country's apex court challenging the High Court's ruling on Tuesday.

The Centre and Delhi government are expected to file reports on the sensational killing of Nido Tania before the Delhi High Court on Wednesday.Acting on a suo moto case, the high court on Monday asked the Centre, Delhi Government to file affidavit on the recent dreaded attack on Nido Tania where the victim died. Police have so far arrested six perpetrators during the last 24 hours. Three were remanded to judicial custody while two others would be produced before a local court on Wednesday.
