GUWAHATI: Amid the crucial probe into the APSC scam, the Gauhati High Court on Tuesday rejected the bail petition moved by chairman Rakesh Paul who has been languishing in jail for the last several months.
A disappointed Paul and his legal team now has no option to pin hopes on the Supreme Court for respite. His lawyers, sources, say are moving the apex court challenging the ruling on Tuesday.
A division bench of the court ruled that since the probe into the nefarious cash for job scam has reached a crucial stage, the bail is not advisable for the chairman.
Paul who two months back procured bail from the Supreme Court was rearrested acting on a fresh bribery case registered against him in Bhangagarh police outpost.
Sources told Assam Times that Paul is moving the country's apex court challenging the High Court's ruling on Tuesday.

PTI Dhubri District Correspondent Om Prakash Todi passed away on Thursday evening at 7.30 pm in Dhubri.
He had gone for news coverage at 3 pm, complained about chest pain at 4 pm.
He was taken for ECG at around 5 pm and then passed away at 7.30 pm, according to his son Ravindra Todi who is also a Journalist.
Todi had contributed news to PTI for over 25 years and was the senior most district correspondent of the news agency.
He was in his early 70s when he passed away.

Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi administered him the oath of office at a solemn function in presence of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal held at Darbur Hall in Raj Bhavan.
