The country wide escalating protest has forced the Centre give a second thought to consider goods service tax on some selected items.

Union finance minister Arun Jaitley presided a brainstorming session of the GST council comprising state finance ministers in Guwahati on Friday where 177 items out of 277 would have 10% slashed rate.

The 28% slab goods would have now 18% goods service tax giving some sort of relief to the common people.
