NSCN-K rebel arrested in Sonari

SIVASAGAR: Amid an escalating tension and controversy over the greater Nagalim a section of NSCN-K rebels has been unleashing no less terror in Sivasagar district bordering Nagaland.

Security forces have captured a dreaded Naga rebel in Sonari area who was believed to have been extorting money in the area. Acting on a tip off, police and army conducted a raid at Senigudam area in the wee hours where the rebel was arrested.

Identified as Kampai Kanyak, he was learnt to have been moving in the area unleashing terror in the form of extortion. Police seized from his possession a pistol, bullet and some extortion.

Then he was brought to Sonari police station where a team of senior police officers has been interrogating him.
