Notorious cyber crime network busted

The Nagaon police claimed to have busted a notorious cyber crime network of five youths who have been looting money to the tune of ₹50 lakh by hacking a number of bank accounts for the last couple of months. 

Identified as Rashid Ahmed Borbhuyan, Sarifuddin Laskar, Syed Ahmed Laskar, Noor Ahmed Borbhuyan and Biswajit Dey, they were nabbed by the special task force set up for the purpose. 

Addressing a press conference in Nagaon, SP Devraj Upadhyay said on Tuesday that these youths have stolen ₹25,0000 from 39 accounts through online and 65 accounts through offline during the last three months. 

He said the police have seized 11 bank accounts along with 80 SIM cards, 20 ATM cards, 2 laptops, 15 Mobile handsets from their possession. 

During the last couple of months a number of customers has lodged complaints of unauthorized withdrawal of money from their accounts forcing police to step up the investigation.

The Nagaon police have seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from a vehicle on Wednesday which believed to have been brought for rhino poaching in Kaziranga. But the persons on question managed to escape the police.
