Gopashtami Celebrated in Hojai

Gopashtami was celebrated in Hojai today. Women,Elder People worshiped Cows.  Puja of cow was done following rituals,cows were feed with grass, banana, chhapatii, rice, jaggery,etc.

From the day the Lord Krishna started the Gocharan, that day was the Ashtami day of Kartik Shukla Paksha, from that day onwards festival of Gopashtami is Celebrated all over india.

Talking to Assam Times Binod Sarawgi, a resident of Hojai said that, "All of us should come forward for the service and protection of cows".

Sunil Sastri, a priest of Laxminarayan  Mandir, said that, "Lord Krishna's name was only because of the protection and service of cows. Indra called him Govind. The worship of cows on the day of Gopashtami is achieved by special fruits, people revere Mother Cows by feeding grass,jaggery.,etc. Following all rituals like garlanding her with towels, flowers, tiilak Mother Cows is revered."

He further said that, In Mother Cow's body all God and Goddess resides, by doing parikarama of Cow  "abhishiit shiidi " can be achieved. 

He also explained about importance of cow dung, cow's muttra. He said Cow is a holy animal, we should respect and pray her.

Boy drowns

Body of 14 years old Sumit Baspor S/O Sambhu Baspor and resident of Harijan Colony rescued on Saturday Morning. Twenty-year-old boy brutally murdered

In a sensational incident, one Ramanand Bora (20) was killed by his neighbour at Dakhin Bidyanagar in Hojai on Friday night. As per information, neighbour Deepak Rajkhowa repeatedly stabbed Ramanand with a sharp weapon.
