In a suspected case of human trafficking, three young girls from Manipur, who were taken to Karnataka on pretext of providing jobs, were rescued at Shimoga district of Karnataka.
The trio were rescued during a joint operation carried out by Karnataka police, Imphal West police and Women Helpline ‘181,’ as per a report.
It said the girls will be handed over to their parents with the help of the Social Welfare Department.
Women in distress have been appealed to use any time the toll free telephone number 181 of Women Helpline ‘181’ for help. The report also appealed to all leaders, apex bodies, village and religious leaders and media to help fight human trafficking in the state.
