Kokrajhar to host Children Science Cong
Massive preparations are going on full swing in Kojrajhar to host the Silver Jubilee of the National Children’s Science Congress, Assam (NCSC) from October 25.
Huge pandals, exit and entrance gates are getting final touch for the four days event where 1000 participants and VIPs, including over 300 children scientists from 33 districts of the state have confirmed participation.
The budding scientists will showcase their projects on 26 different projects highlighting the creativities and importance of science and technology in present day life. The students, who are to be selected in the state level programme, would be forwarded for the national event. Reception Committee and 16 sub-committees are busy in their respective works to make grand success of the scheduled programmes.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will grace as chief guest on the inaugural function to be held on October 26 by 9.45 am.
Open interaction with scientists, orientation of evaluators, Sky watching, qualitative and imaginative aptitude test, ex-scientists meet etc are lined up in the event.
Dr BG Unni,retired director of NEIST,Jorhat;Dr Abani Kumar Bhagawati,Prof. Deptt of Geography,Guwahati University;Birabrata das Chaudhury,Principal,Bongaigaon Polytechnic, Dr Pannalal Goswami, retired Associate Prof. Cotton College are expected to attend the summit.
Apart from these, Jitendra Nath Goswami,Principal Scientist,Chandrayan Mission;Dr Soneswar Sarma,retired prof of Guwahati University; Prof. VB Kamble,former director Vigyan Prasar are attending as resource persons. during the four days scheduled programmes.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar.
