BVFCL management ignores Swaachata
A filthy surrounding in and around the BVFCL Fertilizer unit has raised serious doubts over the sincerity of the authority to keep the area clean.
BVFCL Fertilizer, the single unit in India which runs on Natural Gas and has its own Marketing Complex (BVFCL Daily Bazaar) with 30 permanent shops. But cleanliness is nowhere seen with foul odours of vegetables, Meat and Fish shops making it difficult for the people stay calm.
Lack of proper drainage system is to be blamed for it where the residents of the Sec - C area have been bearing the brunt.
Smrity Rekha Kalita. President and Samiron Boruah, Secretary of Human Rights and Anticorruption Forum Namrup, said " a recent survey has revealed the real picture which is responsible for air pollution in the entire area.”
The duo said that BVFCL authority neither has installed a dustbin in the area to dump the garbage in the three huge industrial areas to save the people from 41 villages and 8 tea gardens. Will the BVFCL authority act?

People in the Namrup daily bazar paid their homage to the Pulwama martyrs.
The programme was organsied by daily bazaar shop keepers assoctiation and local people of the area.
The 11 hour Assam bandh called by North East Students Organization ( NESO ) and All Assam Student Union ( AASU ) , supported by many other organizations opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 was total in Namrup. The town wore a deserted look as vehicles of all kinds remained off the road. Schools and colleges, shops and markets, banks and offices were seen closed. The bandh supporters burnt tyers at Namrup Sonari Tiniali , BVFCL Main Gate , APL Main Gate and Sarmah Tiniali to stop the movement of vehicles.
The Namrup regional unit of All Assam Student Union ( AASU ) organsied protest against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 by blocking the road and burning tyers at Sonari tiniali. The demonstrators shouted slogans against the state and central governments exibiting play card "Kendriya Government Hai Hai, Raijya Sarkar Murdabad, Mukhyamantri kam nai". More than one hundred AASU activists and local people took part in the protest.
The year long Golden Jubilee of Namrup Sahitya Sabha is coming to an end with various cultural programmes. The programme was inagurated by working president Satrasingh Deuri. Seminar, poetry, cultural night, Book release were part of the event.

Polling concluded peacefully in the three panchayats - Kachari Pathar, Namrup and Santipur Panchayat - with 75 percent voter turnout. Situation became tense when more than 50 voters were deprived from voting in Santipur.

The largest ancient Hindu festival, dedicated to Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya (known to be the wife of Surya), Chhath Puja is unique to the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and the country of Nepal. Namrup: There was total bandh in Namrup during the Assam Bandh called by 46 organisations in the state opposing citizenship amendment Bill 2016. Protesters burnt tyres in BVFCL Main Gate, Sonari Tiniali, Namghar Chariali, Salibasa. Marketing complex, Schools, colleges, Government and private offices, Banks were all closed during the bandh.
