Global Hand Washing Day observed in Hojai

Global Hand Washing Day, observed by Small Steps (NGO) and Sos's Children's Village today, at Hojai.

Small Steps organised this at Munda Basti, Sankardev Nagar,Hojai among the children's, mother's and young  players of uday sangha of that village.

And, Sos's children's Village organised this at their village campus among the children's and thier Co-ordinators.

At Munda Basti the programme was intiated by the founder of the organisation Dr. Prodip Kumar Sahoo.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sahoo said,  Global Handwashing Day seeks to raise awarness about the importance of handwashing, and encourage action to promote and sustain handwashing habits. He said, handwashing with soap is essential, because it minimises diseases.

Through demonstration, the process of handwashing was shown to everyone present at Munda basti. 

Also, at Sos's Children's village the Co-ordinators demonstrated, the children's the best way to wash hands and its benefits. 


The Director of the Sos's Children's village Paresh Badyakar said that, parents should teach their children the habits of handwashing  and its advantages, early in childhood. So that this good habit remains with them life long.

At Munda basti as well as Sos's Children's Village, all the participants committed to keep their hands clean as well as conveyed the message of handwashing and its benefits holding placards to the rest of the villager's for healthy society.

HOJAI: The Hojai police have arrested four persons 24 hours after they allegedly shot dead a person on the town on Thursday night. Identified as Rajib Mazumdar, Yahiya Uddin, Haidar Ali  and Makbul Islam they were arrested acting on some inputs after the police registered the case. After interrogation they would be produced before the court.  Police further claimed to have recovered a  7.65mm pistol  2 magazines, 10 rounds of live. 7.65mm bullets, 2 live rounds of  303 bullets and 4 rounds of Cartridges from the possession of Makbul during the search operation at his premises.which was kept concealed in the house  premises. A separate case has been registered.
HOJAI: One person sustained serious injury when unidentified miscreants fired upon him in Hojai on Thursday.The incident took place in Ahmed Nagar when two motor cycle born youths fired upon Abdur Kadir at 8.45 in the evening. A severally injured Kadir has been referred to Guwahati after primary treatment at a local hospital.Police have registered a case and operation is going on to nab the miscreants.

HOJAI: Four full grown wild jumbos died a tragic death when a speeding train rammed into a herd of wild elephants in Hojai on Saturday sending huge shock and anger across the state. The incident took place in the evening at Hawaijan area where the Guwahati)bound passenger train from Silchar rammed into a herd of wild elephants as it crossed the railway tracks. Shock and sensation prevail in Hojai when an unidentified speedy car crushed to death a police officer on Saturday night. According to information the incident took place at night in Nilbagan area on NH No 54 when the speeding car knocked down Ajit Gogoi WT-OPR( Police Personnel) as he was returning to home from duty.   He was immediately taken to the hospital. But the doctors declared him brought dead.
