Aditya Baruah brings laurels to College of Fisheries,Raha

The sumptuousness of College of Fisheries, Assam Agricultural University, Raha, in the dome of imparting quality education and nurturing talent, once again has been appreciated nationally. The signature of laurels, this time, brought by a outgoing Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc.) Student Mr. Aditya Baruah by begging the Dr.E.G.Silas Award. The three tier examination which is known as Best Fisheries Graduate of India (BFGI) is conducted every year by the PFGF (Professional Fisheries Graduate Forum). Aditya came out with the 3rd Best Fisheries Graduate of India. He hails from Jorhat district of Assam. Currently he is pursuing his M.F.Sc. (Master of Fisheries Science) in ICAR- Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), Mumbai acquiring ICAR-Junior Research Fellowship award to pursue Masters in Agricultural Science. Aditya thanked each and every faculty member for their hard work and dedication towards imparting quality teaching and research in the field of Fisheries Science. He specially thanked Mr.Bipul Phukan, Asstt Professor, Deptt. of Fishery Resource Management for shouldering the extra work of being the co-ordinator of PFGF examination in the college. The Dean of the College Dr.K.K.Tamuli has expressed his exuberance and he pledge to continue the success saga of the faculty in the area of Fisheries Science.

A motorcyclist and his pillion rider were critically injured when a Mahindra Bolero SUV hit their bike on the Nizdimou Bypass near Bebejia, Nagaon on Sunday evening. The injured, identified as Pinku Borah, son of Dipen Bora and Bikash Nath son of Pabitra Nath, both resident of Senchowa, Nagaon were shifted to Nagaon Civil Hospital. In a shocking incident, a 50 year old man named Tapan Pal of Juria in the Nagaon district woke up while he was being taken to the funeral. The incident happened on Saturday afternoon when his family members and relatives presuming the man to be dead and asked fellow villagers to prepare Tapan for his last rites and funeral. Upgradation and improvement of Borduwa-Baribazar PWD link road in Batadrava, Nagaon has started on Friday. The 8.20 km long road to be constructed under Assam State road project (World Bank aided) at an estimated cost of Rs 14.41crore will benefit the inhabitants of Batadrava, Dhaniabhety, Gosaikhanda,Baribazar and its adjoining areas. This was announced by MLA Angoorlata Deka after laying the foundation stone for the road upgradation. The Jamunamukh police probing the recent gangrape and murder of a teacher arrested a youth on Thursday. Sources told Assam Times that acting on an input by a minor boy, police arrested Selimuddin, a local resident in thus connection. Sensation prevailed at Kawoimari, Barchunghat in Kampur  following recovery of a woman's body on Wednesday afternoon in the Kapili river. The body was discovered by some local people who noticed the body floating in the river. They immdiately called the police.  The body is sent for autopsy. The woman was aged around 50 years. Meanwhile, local people of Kawoimari suspected the incident as a case of murder after rape. "She was raped by miscreants before she was killed. Several injury marks were also visible on her body", a local said. Police have started their investigation.
