Newborn found abandoned

A newborn baby was left  abandoned with a note (letter) in a gateway shed at Nij Demow under Bebejia police outpost in the Nagaon district on Sunday morning. The boy has been admitted to the Nagaon BP civil hospital.


According to Sarat Saikia, I/C Bebejia police outpost, "the newborn, wrapped in clothes, was born two/three days ago, before he was dumped by her parents. On Sunday at around 5.15 a.m, the locals spotted the baby and informed us. As soon as we received information we arrived at the spot, recovered the baby and admitted in Nagaon Civil Hospital. The baby is facing difficulties in breathing and is now being treated in the hospital."


Meanwhile, the locals have recovered a note (letter) near to gateway shed which read , "Wage earner due to financial problem, Have handed it over to people and the government, Please Save the baby by providing treatment; The rich didn't gave one thousand rupees after pleading."

Nagaon police bow down to mass pressure

The arrest of a person in connection with a kidnapping case triggers no less protest in Nagaon on Monday forcing the authorities to release him after thousands of people in Eleven Mile area hit the streets demanding unconditional release of the people whom they called innocent. Buddha purnima Celebrated in Batadrava

Doboka Police seized 99 thousand fakenotes along with a pistol and four bullets from the possession of one Fatir ahmed, son of Ayub Al Ali of Changmaji village of Doboka in Hojai District on Saturday night. Doboka Police Station nabbed the accused on Madartoli near NH 36 while his accomplice managed to escape. Police currently interrogating the accused.

Illegal liquor seized

Rupahihaat Police conducted an operation against illegal liquor sellers of the Rupahihaat Bazar and Bhakatgaon area under Rupahihaat Police station of Nagaon district and seized a total of 150 Indian made foreign liquor bottles, on Saturday night . Two persons namely Biswajit das and Dilip marak were held in this connection. It may be mentioned that illegal sale of Foreign liquors in panshops and grocery shops of Dakhinpat Chariali has been allegedly going on for years but the Nagaon Excise unit as well as Rupahihat police have failed to curb menace of free-flowing liquor.

Boy rushed to hosptal after Snake bite

A boy named Siddique ali is receiving treatment at Nagaon BP civil hospital for a snake bite after he was bitten on the roadside of Gorajan, Rupahihat in Nagaon district on Saturday. As per information, Ali in the morning caught a Cobra from a field near Gorajan. He then took it to Rupahihaat Bazar and started playing with it but unfortunately he was bitten by the snake. He was rushed to Nagaon BP civil hospital by the locals and remained a in Critical condition till the filing of this report.

Shop gutted in Puranigudam

Goods worth around 2 lakh rupees were gutted in fire after a shop at Randaichuk,Puranigudam of Nagaon district got engulfed in devastating fire on Saturday noon. According to sources,The shop caught fire from the earthen lamp of the shop and which soon spread to whole shop. The fire was doused by the locals along with fire brigade team from Amoni in about half-an hour's time.However,No casualty was reported due to the fire.

Truckload of dogs rescued in Samaguri

The demand for dog meat in Nagaland is greater than its supply, so live dogs are illegally trafficked there from Assam. However, a major effort of these traffickers was foiled on Thursday night when locals along with the cops in Samaguri in Nagaon successfully managed to rescue 75 dogs from the clutches of the ruthless dog trade. Four traffickers were also arrested in this process. Some locals of Samaguri managed to catch a truck carrying 75 dogs at Samaguri Bazar area According to sources at around 8.30 in the evening which was going towards Dimapur from Rupohihat, Nagaon.
