Former Asam Assembly Speaker and AGP(P) leader Ganesh Kutum passed away on Wednesday night. he was 60. The end came at around 9-30 at the International Hospital in the city of Guwahati where he was admitted a few days back. he was suffering from kidney ailment. Before that he was undergoing treatment in New Delhi. Several parties, organisations and individuals have expressed deep shock at the untimely demise of Kutum. He was elected to the Assam legislative assembly twice from Gohpur seat and in 1996 he was elcted as the Assam Assembly Speaker. When the Asom Gana Parishad was divided he join the AGP(P) led by former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta.

After days of will-they-won’t-they, police have arrested Akhil Gogoi on Sunday in connection with the recent protest in Kaziranga.
