Zeliang stresses sustainable development

Nagaland Chief Minister, TR Zeliang accompanied by Lok Sabha MP&NPF President Neiphiu Rio and President of NPF Manipur, Awangbow Newmai attended the 2nd Conclave of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) held at Maharastra Sadan in New Delhi on Tuesday. 

The Conclave saw the attendance of BJP National President, Amit Shah; BJP National General Secretary, Ram Madhav; Dr. Jitendra Singh, MoS for DONER and Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State for Home apart from other dignitaries like Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Sarbananda Sonowal, Pawan Kumar Chamling, Pena Khandu, Biren Singh, Zoramthanga, Neiphiu Rio, Atul Borah, Hagrama Mohilary, Paramananda Chayangia, Paul Lyndoh, Conrad Sangma, Rajen Gohain and others. 

While highlighting the plights of some odd 2000 Hindi Teachers in the State whose services are on the verge of termination due to its co-terminus nature as per guidelines of these CSS schemes, the Chief Minister urged upon the Central Government to give special impetus  to the matter. 

“ The service of Hindi Teachers in Nagaland are co-terminus with the schemes introduced in the State and this has to be rectified to secure their future while paying special attention in imparting Hindi Education in the entire NE region,” he said. 

Against the backdrop of the recent visit of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to Assam where Zeliang had earlier, highlighted the disaster that took place in the State due to heavy rain and flood, the Chief Minister reiterated the demand immediate relief and restoration of infrastructure destroyed as assured by the Prime Minister then.

“Immediate attention is required considering the magnitude in terms of loss of human lives and damages caused to private and public properties alike,” he said while adding that “Nagaland Government will soon be submitting a comprehensive plan in this regard.”

Also portraying the sorry state of air connectivity in the the State, the Chief Minister called for urgent improvement without further delay while adding that “Visa Checking System must be introduced in the NE region to ease the movement of goods and Citizens across the international borders of South-East Asian Countries without which tourism, trade and commerce is being hampered.”

In a huge respite for Rakesh Paul, the Supreme Court on Wednesday granted bail to the former Assam Public Service Commission eight months after Dibrugarh police caught him on cash for job scam.  A three judge bench of the country’s top court granted bail to Paul with no restrictions on the police to rearrest him in connection to other case.
