How brutal and careless might be corporal punishments in the schools? Can you imagine. Believe it or not: A 14-year old student lost his eyesight after he was ruthlessly beaten up by an NCC instructor.
The incident that generates no less heat among the students, teachers and guardians took place in Tangla HS School and the victim Dipankar Joardar is a student of Class VIII whom assistant physical instructor Amit Laskar mercilessly beat up him in the run up to the Independence Day celebration.
LASKAR allegedly flogged Dipankar with utter carelessness and the student got hurt in his right eye. According to him, he wad beaten up as he failed to now down in a helicopter position during the final day march past practice on August 14.
Then the teachers took him to the Mangaldai Civil Hospital where he was referred to the Sankardeva Nethralaya, Guwahati. The doctors there confirmed the lose of eyesight. Now Dipankar’s father wants to take away his his abroad for better treatment.
“I do appeal to the State Government and other relevant agencies to come to our aid and help my child restore his lost vision. We are also seeking justice for the unjust treatment by the instructor,” said Dipankar’s father.
His father further alleged that the school authority has been trying to avoid the problem. Dipankar’s mother said, “Neither none of the teachers have visited us till date.”
His father will seek legal action if the school authority fails to ensure proper treatment of thr student.
