Stop eviction: Torch rally in Gogamukh

Hundreds of people hit the streets in Gogamukh in Dhemaji district on Sunday opposing the ongoing eviction drive at the Amchang reserved forest in the outskirt of Guwahati apart from with Lika and Dodhia attached with the Dibru Saikhowa sanctuary,

With this torch rally in the evening organized by Takam Mising Porin Kébang (TMPK), the protestors demanded an immediate halt on the which they said would bring more misery for the flood and errosion-hit tribal  people in

 Laika, Dodhia, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Lohitmukh (Gohpur), Majuli and Nampai(Jagun). They, further, demanded implementation of the the Forest Right Act as well as well as to provide land rights according to Indigenous Land Act.
