World Honey Bee Day on Saturday

The Assam Directorate of Horticulture & Food Processing, Assam has decided to celebrate the World Honey Bee Day , in collaboration with Salt Range Private Limited, Guwahati on Saturday at Momai Tamuli Barbarua Training Hall, Khanapara, Guwahati. 

The event is being organized under  Horticulture Mission for North East and Himalayan States(HMNEH). Atul Bora, Minister of Agriculture, Assam will inaugurate the programme in the morning. 

Several bee keepers will attend in the programme. There will be Technical Session and Interaction Session for the benefit of bee keepers.  

In this connection, a Training of Bee Keeper will also organised at Centre of Excellence for Offseason Vegetables, Khetri, Kamrup on Friday.  It

Honey available in Assam is unique and varying and it has huge demand. Honey from this State is wild in nature and is known for its natural sweetness. A large variety of flowering plants is available in this region.  Taste of honey of the Assam differs from plant to plant. Honey obtained from litchi flowers is the sweetest. Honey available in the Assam is obtained from litchi, Mango, eucalyptus, mustard, coconut, drumstick, jamun, orange etc. Honey obtained from amlokhi and hilikha is bitter in taste and it cures breathing problem. Jamun honey cures diabetes.
