68 ultras surrender in Manipur
As many as 68 militants belonging to various outlawed underground groups, including 17 from UNLF and seven from PLA, surrendered to the Manipur government and laid down weapons.
Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh, his deputy Yumnam Joykumar Singh and several other ministers attended the ‘homecoming ceremony’ held at 1st Battalion, Manipur Rifles.
The militants, including four women, were 17 from UNLF, 7 from PLA (RPF), 10 from PREPAK, 7 from PREPAK (Pro), 4 from KYKL, 10 from KCP (N), one each from KCP (W), KCP (KK Mangang) and KCP (MJC), 5 each from KCP (KM) and KCP (MC).
They surrendered themselves to Chief Minister Biren Singh during the function.
The weapons they laid down were 2 AK Rifles, one M16 rifle, one lethod gun, one 9 mm pistol and one .22 pistol and one .38 pistol.

Two teenage boys died while another sustained injuries after they were electrocuted at Tuikot village of Churachandpur district on Tuesday. An explosion occurred near Kasturi Bridge of Thangal bazaar under Imphal Police Station in the capital city this evening, but there were no casualties. The police believed the explosion that happened around 7 pm was caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The blast caused some damage to nearby Mahavir Medico Pharmacy. None was hurt in the incident. Police said they were investigating the blast. In March this year, a blast near the Kasturi Bridge injured eight persons, two of them critically. Former MLA Karam Thamarjit Singh passed away following a brief illness at Apollo Hospital, New Delhi on Thursday. He was 46. His body will be brought back to Imphal Saturday. Thamarjit Karam Memmorial Committee, Keirai Assembly Youth Congress Committee and Mahila Block Committee condoled his death. He was elected from the ticket of Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) from Keirao constituency in the 2002 assembly elections. He contested the 2017 Manipur assembly polls on Indian National Congress (INC) ticket, but had lost.
