Gogoi visits Salakati

Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi lashed-ouit at the BJP-led state government for their failure to provide safety and security to people of the state. He demanded CBI inquiry into the Lafikul killing.

Gogoi on Monday visited Salakati residence of ABMSU president Lafikul Islam Ahmed, who was shot dead by unidentified armed miscreants on August 1 at Titaguri bazaar. He was accompanied by former ministers Pradyut Bordoloi, Rakibul Hussain and Rekibuddin Ahmed.

Gogoi reached Kokrajhar by train and then visited at Salakati to meet family members of Lafikul. He also visited at the residence of Subhangkhar Chakrabarty, who received bullet injury in the same incident. 

Gogoi said, ‘BJP led alliance government at the Dispur cannot provide any security to the State and its people. Be it MP Jewelers case in Guwahati city or Lafikul Islam’s assassination, there is no difference. We demand CBI probe into the matter as soon as possible to nab the involved culprits’.

‘Even though seven days passed of the Lafikul killing, yet main involved culprits are to be arrested, he said adding that government has no any intention to arrest the culprits.Culprits should be nabbed and punish through the impartial inquiry into Lafikul killing as soon as possible’, Gogoi added.
