AASU protest in Namrup

The All Assam Students Union (AASU) Namrup unit staged a protest in front of the main gate of Assam Petrochemical Limited (APL) in Namrup on Thursday demanding continuation of  the APL L.P. school.  and to remove the labour camp set up inside the school. The protesters destroyed the camp.

Shock and anger in Namrup

Veteran journalists and social activists in Namrup condemned the recent assassination of Gauri Lankesh  outside her home in Bangalore .  Namrup Press and Society Club members further demanded immediate arrest of the perpetrators involved in it and capital punishment.  Namrup Press Club secretary and Promotion Club Smrity Rekha Kalita  said " The culprit should immediately punish the person against attack on Gauri.”

Namrup Music College turns 50

Youth held for attempt to molest Namrup girl

After much hue and cry in thr entire Dibrugarh district, the Namrup police have captured a local youth on Friday a week after he tried to molest a college girl who was on her way back to the home.  Identified as Dimitry Barua, the 31 year old youth was arrested in the afternoon before a local court in Dibrugarh sent him to the jail after he was produced before it.  Before that a team of police has been interrogated the local resident of Naharpukhuri Changmai Gaon under Borhat Police station of  Charaideu District in connection with his alleged attempt to outrage the modesty of the college girl on August 31.  He was arrested three days after local AASU leaders and...

Thermal power replacement plant gutted

Properties worth Rs.1 crore were reduced to ashes when a huge inferno ravaged the Namrup Thermal Replacement Power Plant on Thursday.  Originated from electric short circuit, the fire broke out at around 3 in the morning at the control room where two boards of the Automatic Voltage  Regulator Pannel Board wwere totally destroyed. Fire tenders from APL and BVFCL took around three hours to bring the situation under control. Teachers’ Day in Namrup

Namrup Teachers Day celebrated in Namrup , 300 teachers feliciated by Namrup AASU  and cultural rally taken by Namrup Public High School. Namrup, 5September :- Namrup also joined the nationwide celebration of Teachers’ Day to mark the birth anniversary of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on Tuesday.  Schools and colleges  in the entire of Dibrugarh district wore a fresh look with students greeting the teachers, holding meetings and seminars to falicitate the teaching fraternity.  Namrup local AASU  unit felicitated  three hundred teachers of different schools and institutions at a solemn function organized to mark the occasion.  

Students hit streets in Namrup

Hundreds of students in Namrup hit the streets alleging police failure to nab the youth who misbehaved with a college girl a week ago.  Organized by the Namrup local AASU, the protest got huge response on Monday where the participants shouted slogans against the failure of the authority. The students then submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner through the Naharkotiya circle officer raising the demand. Protest erupted on August 31 when a biker misbehaved with a college girl as she was on her way back to the home. The college girl  lodged a complaint on the sane day. But thr biker was yet to be held.

APCU meet held in Dibrugarh HS Kanoi College .

Dibrugarh  APCU unit organised its meeting at the HS Kanoi college  auditorium on Sunday under the president ship of by Tilak Phukan. APCU Central Committee President Manoj Singh attended as Chief Guest along with Assam Jatiyatabadi  Yuba Parishad (AJYP) Central Committee secretary  Udayan Kumar Gogoi. Senior journalists Bhushan Jyoti Handique and Kushal Khanikar are selected for the Ambedkar Award this year. APCU Moran Subdivision Committee President Basa Borah and Secretary  Amit Chowdhary,  APCU Naharkatia Subdivision Secretary Smrity Rekha Kalita, Namrup Press Club, Lahowal Press Club attended the event.

Nagaon incident brews protest in Namrup

Simmering protest erupts in Namrup on Monday over the Nagaon incident where a tractor dealer of doubtful integrity along with his associates assaulted a group of former rebels ad they were raising fund to feed the flood hit. New religious meet in Namrup

For the first time in the north eastern region Namrup is gearing up to celebrate 3rd anniversary of Shree Ram Sharnam Ashram on August 30 and 31. The event will start with Amritvani and Bhajan with a monolithic prayer (Ram Nam Jaap) from 7pm till next morning 7am. On August 31, the monolothic prayer will end at 7 in the morning with a devotional programme.

Concern over a delayed bridge

The Namrup Lalpaguri Ghat Bridge over the river Disang has been in a bad shape causing immense suffering for the commuters. The temporary bridge is the sole route  for the people of  Namrup in Lalpaguri Ghat  which was washed away by the flood waters causing immense inconvenience to the people of Nalini Pathar ,Japihojia, Utarhundar, Duinon hundor, Borochalli, Narayan Pathar, Tiklagor, Borpatra, Nepalikhuti and  Panjabi.
