Prohibitory order at sand mining village in Udalguri

In view of the rainy situation and with unwanted excavation at river Nonai at village Pachim Nalbari, under Harisinga Revenue Circle,severe erosion has caused a threat to the change of course of the river.In view of the latest situation,Richand Ahmed,Additional District Magistrate, Udalguri promulgated prohibitory order U/S 144 Cr.P.C at the said area,stopping any kind of excavation of sand and soil etc with immediate effect.(Order No.UMG-3/2015/ 49/Dated Udalguri July 19/2017).It needs mention that unauthorized excavation at the site by some contractors had caused revenue loss to the government.Most serious matter had been the changing of the river course and subsequent erosion destroying ecology and several houses of the people living at Pachim Nalbari village.Wildlife activists of the district brought the matter to the notice of Deputy Commissioner,Udalguri recently.There were discussions in social media and publishing of the news in several news papers also. People thanked Udalguri civil administration for timely action to stop illegal sand mining at Pachim Nalbari village.
