National campaigns on water conservation held in Kokrajhar

A national campaigned was organised on the conservation of water and agricultural respurces held at Thuribari village in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday involving farmer and villagers from rural areas.

 The campained was carried out jointly by Orai Swmkhwr and Rural Welfare & Development Association(RWDA) in association with NABARD,Kokrajhar to create awareness on harvesting of water resources and agricultural aspects in the district.Hundreds of farmer and villagers from different villages of the greater Thuribari area participated the campaigned which has been aimed to bring a-water led transformation of a village among human beings. A total 700 villages from Kokrajhar(350) and Baksa(350) district are to be included under the campaigned,through which citizens from both the district are getting benefits in their livelihood. One lakh villages are involved in the campaigned for the whole nation,said Amarjit Basumatary,president of Orai Swmkhwr NGO,Kokrajhar. He said that the NGOs are working for bringing awareness and information about water harvesting along with huge production of products in the crop field.

 Bibekananda Choudhury, Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar graced as chief guest.Officials from NABARD, Uco Bank and Krishi Vigyan Kendra(KVK),Gossaigaon were attended the programme as resource persons and addressed the expectations of water conservation in the country.

 Choudhury lauded the initiatives taking by NGOs in the rural areas to build an awareness about farming as well water conservation to gain more farming sectors. ‘I do hope such kind of initiative taking by NGOs will facilitate more encouragement among farmers in the region’,he said.

 Mahadev Basumatary,senior official from KVK,Gossaigaon said that farmers should come forward with dedicated while producing more crops to meet our requirement in the state.
