A 9-feet-long Python, weighting 12 kg, was rescued in a residential area of Namrup thermal power station. It was caught while consuming a duck in a garden. After noticing the python, the owner of the resident informed the Namrup forest beat office. A team of forest staff rescued the python and sent to Jeypore Reserved Forest.
NAMRUP: Police and army claimed to have captured a hardcore ULFA-I rebel during a combing operation in Sonari who was among those threatening a section of coal traders in Nimonagarh and Tiru.Acting on a tip off army troops based at Maibela and Sonari police raided the Hotel Seven Sister where they captured the rebel to be identified as Prasanta Chutia alias Tankeswar.Police further seized a 9 MM pistol, live bullets, a map along with some other incriminating materials from his possession who hails from Lobginori area. Interrogation is going on to extract more information on the rebel activities in the area.
