ABSU,AAGSU staged rally seeking Bodoland, Gorkhaland

The fever of seeking new smaller states in the country has been seeing gain momentum as All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and All Assam Gorkha Students Union (AAGSU) jointly carried out a grand mass rally seeking early creation of Bodoland and Gorkhaland in the country.

Over 5000 supporter and activists from ABSU and AAGSU joined hands with banner placards in the rally that was started from Srirampur to Simultapu bazaar adjacent to West Bengal state in Kokrajhar district on Friday along the 31 C National Highway.

 Agitated supporters of Bodoland and Gorkhaland shouted slogans demanding early creation of smaller states in the country including Gorkhaland, Bodoland through political dialogue and meet healthy administration in the country. Leaders both from AAGSU, ABSU, apart from Prem Tamang, president of AAGSU, Lawrence Islary, general secretary of ABSU participated the rally that disrupted traffic communication for two hour.

Tamang said that the Gorkhas are son of soil in this India country and have been contributing a lot towards patriotism in guarding security for the nation. He has accused of Mamata Banerjee led TMC government in West Bengal for deteriorated situation in Darjeeling which has been seeing boil still today. He said that Gorkhas are wanting to live with dignity,integrity in the Indian nation,but government has yet to shown good response over our demands so far. He has also condemned the Darjeeling situation and demanded early intervention from Centre to meet early peaceful environment.

Tamang has urged the government of India to solve the Gorkhaland issue as soon as possible to meet peaceful situation.

‘Government should come forward with pragmatic policy to create new smaller states across the country in an earliest manner to sustain peace and integrated environment’,Tamang said.

Lawrence Islary,ABSU leader participating the rally demanded early solutions to the demand and issue of Bodoland and Gorkhaland through political dialogue.He has alleged that West Bengal was the responsible for Darjeeling situation that claimed many lives.

Islary has also urged the centre to come forward for early intervention while restoration of peace and unity in Darjeeling.

He pointed out that smaller state demand groups are coming out united under the banner of National Federation for New State (NFNS), which has been pressing government to take pragmatic measures while creating new states across the country.

Mrighen Sarania, Mayor of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) visited in Kokrajhar to take stock of the implementation of Solid & Liquid Resources Management (SLRM) project, initiated by Kokrajhar Municipality Board on Saturday.
