2 electrocuted, another hurt
Two teenage boys died while another sustained injuries after they were electrocuted at Tuikot village of Churachandpur district on Tuesday.
The slain teenagers are identified as Thangminlien of Lhanjang village and Onkam of Tuilaphai village. The injured is identified as Gogou of Dumdephai village.
According to a report, the incident happened when the trio went to Tuikot village for music rehearsal for Evangelical Churches Association (ECA) Youth Golden Jubilee to be celebrated next year.
The power suddenly went out while the rehearsal was in progress following which the trio tried to repair it by holding an electric post nearby when they were hit with electric shocks.
The two died instantly at the spot while the third one sustained critical injury in the incident.

Three people were injured when a powerful IED exploded in Imphal East’s Khurai Ahongei around 10:30 am Monday. The injured are W Ibomcha Singh, 53, resident of Khurai Soibam Leikai, Md Ahamda, 43, resident of Khurai Ahongei and Md Shahid, 35, resident of Yairipok. An unknown illness appeared to spread in the district as many as 49 people including children have reported becoming sick after an illness at the interior village of V Sinai on Monday. They were admitted to the district hospital for treatment. Volunteers of the Kuki Khanglai Lawmpi (KKL) rushed them to the hospital by an ambulance. Authorities said the patients hailing from V Sinai near Patlen were having flu-like symptoms. In a drug drive, a team of police led by Tengnoupal Superintendent of Police Dr S Ibomcha arrested four drug peddlers, including two women and 15 drug users yesterday. The drive was carried out at Moreh Ward No.4. The four drug peddlers were caught with 4 gm of heroin, 240 pieces of WY tablets, 320 of other intoxicant tablets and seven bottles of WY. The arrested were identified as H Shamo, resident of Moreh Ward No.4, Dimmu Mandim and Khaipou Zou, both residents of MOreh Ward No.2 and L Bishe, resident of Moreh Ward No.5.
