Road communication was disrupted since Monday along the 31(C) National Highway at Karigaon in Kokrajhar district due to 36-hour Assam bandh called by Pradip Ray faction of AKRSU demanding creation of a Kamatapur state and ST status to the Koch Rajbongshis.
The Assam bandh passed off peacefully this evening by 5 pm affecting normal life in various districts of lower Assam region.
Several long distance transports, trucks have to stranded on the national highways since yesterday due to bandh. Passenger and truck drivers expresses their resented of face food crisis on the strike following long hours stranding at several places.
